Gochujang paste is spicy magic in a small red tub.
If you love spicy food and chili-based condiments, but haven’t tried gochujang in your cooking at home, you’re missing out! It’s a complex flavor: fermented, savory, salty, sweet, and above all, SPICY!
This stir-fry sauce recipe is a great way to start cooking with gochujang paste, and only uses three other ingredients you most likely already have on hand. It’s a stir-fry sauce go-to in our house and pairs well with a ton of ingredients. My personal favorite veggie mix to use it with are onion, bell peppers, mushroom, and tofu, with plenty of steaming hot rice to sop up extra sauce.
Just 4 ingredients for a simple, savory, and spicy stir-fry sauce
- 3 tbsp gochujang paste
- 3 tbsp soy sauce
- 3 tbsp maple syrup
- 3 tbsp rice vinegar
Combine all ingredients into a small bowl. Whisk until well combined.
Add to stir-fry once all ingredients are cooked, stir to coat. Keep over medium heat for 2-3 minutes, until sauce thickens slightly.
Best served hot over a bed of rice!
- Makes about half a cup of sauce.
- This sauce will become slightly thick, but if you like VERY thick sauce, mix 1/2 tbsp of cornstarch with 2 tbsp water to make a slurry, then add the slurry to the sauce mix before cooking.
